We sat down with Heidy and asked her all the most important questions in life.

What artists and/or genres have been your biggest musical inspirations?

Some of the many people that inspired me throughout the years are Move D , Marcellus Pittman, Natasha Diggs and Eli Escobar. Most recently I got to witness Maurice Fulton's impressive dedication to the craft. He breathe and live music. I've seen him DJ from party to party for over 15h with no sign of stopping and clearly enjoying every minute.  I want to do this music thing as long as I can and never lose the spark.

If you could spend one night with a person (dead or living), who would it be & what would you want to do together?

Cookie Mueller. I've been obsessed since I read one of of book last year.  She seemed to be as much go with the flow as me so I'd just meet up with her somewhere downtown and see where the universe takes us.

How do you feel music has changed in the last decade?

Music is way more accessible. It makes it easier to discover very obscure stuff and I hate gatekeepers so that's something positive for sure. On the other end, all those streaming apps greatly devalued mysix and it's so hard these days to survive as an artist without a cushion. I've also noticed that scenes from each cities are losing their own sound and everything is becoming more global.

What places/spaces are you drawn to for creative inspiration?

If you know me , my love for Detroit is no secrets.  A friend once asked me why I was drawned to that city so much and I replied that I become the best creative version of myself when I'm there. The music history runs so deep but also the level of creative energy all around town is palpable. I'm also always deeply inspired by NYC and feel so thankful to be able to attend party institutions like 718 sessions. The overall energy of the city always has a way to inspires me as well, the banter, the noise (which I love dearly), the fashion, I sometimes wish I could hug the whole city.

What's 1 party coming up in New York City you're most excited about?

On December 18th I am back at Good Room with Andrew from MGMT ( A. Deeplove ). He's doing an extended set in the main room while me and my Detroit friend Charles Trees take over the Bad Room. It will be a super fun night of music inspiration and it will be fun to explore away from the weekend crowd.
