THC + CBD = A better high
Modern cannabis can be a pretty overwhelming experience. Many report side effects of anxiety or drowsiness for example. But when it's good, it's great - and we have figured out the difference.
THC potency has spiked 500% in the last 40 years
As we have reported earlier in the post "Make Cannabis Safe Again", prohibition led to a pretty extreme increase in THC potency in the plant, and subsequently the same thing happened to many edibles, vapes and other form factors too.
But it's not just the THC potency that causes these side effects, the lack of CBD is an even bigger issue.
THC and CBD are the two most dominant cannabinoids among the hundreds you can find in the cannabis plant. THC is known for its psychoactive properties while CBD mainly carries the major medicinal properties the plant gives us.
Less known is how these two cannabinoids work together. The average levels of THC have more than tripled over the last 20ish years, at the same time as the levels of CBD have dropped to zero.
When using cannabis products with high levels of THC and low to no levels of CBD many experience side effects like anxiety or drowsiness.
In Woodstock it was more equal
The weed that was smoked during The Summer of Love in 1969 was natural, with an equal ratio of THC and CBD (around 5-7% of each in the buds). Today the weed you can get at a dispensary is most likely between 30%-50% in THC potency, and no CBD at all.
Bring it back
Bringing back a balance between THC and CBD allows the CBD to block these common side effects. In addition to that, THC also boosts the medicinal and relaxing properties of CBD. This synergistic relationship creates a more pleasurable experience with no side effects.
All Studio TBD products have a ratio of THC (or HHC) and CBD, designed to create A Better High.
